Not saying it can't happen (or didn't) I've not seen a Tolly with a single rail box and the N plater I worked on last week still had a 3 rail. but this is a VERY late car (or at least, a very late REGISTERED car) If any have a single rail box, this could be one of them!

The parts catalogue says that the single rail gearbox was fitted from commission numbers ADH20001 and ADF100001

Just a quick update really. Not much to report other than few more coats of primer have been added. (And probably knocked back to). Also purchased a set of axle stands so I can work on the brakes properly fingers crossed this Sunday. Weather permitting.

Also picked up some rattle cans to try some colour combos before I really settle on a colour. At the moment. I'm leaning towards a red. But could be more hassle than it's worth at the moment. We shall see.

Still sanding everything down. Went down the rattle can route. Did an ok job but my prep was horrific so stripped it back again till it was a better finish. Looks a lot better now on the passenger wing. Just giving the front another going over. Don't think the roller was the best option in hind site.

Hoping the electric sprayer I've ordered will give a better finish. We'll see. Try to get some more pictures up tonight.

Been a little while.

Made much better progress on the paint work. Looking ok. Finally put everything back together properly. And it's looking quite good remaining me of rhubarb and custard at the moment.

Made a start on taking a look at the brakes. The drivers size calliper was solid, so I slowly managed to take the securing pins out of of the pads. Needed a lot of hammering just to get those out and the pads were in solid. Finally with a lot of banging around they came out. Have a feeling that the pistons are stuck so that will be a job for another day. On the plus side it has freed up my brake peddle. Where as before I couldn't get any movement at all. I can at least move the pedal now. Getting a lot of pumping but not much else. So I'm guessing that I either have a lot of air in the system or something else is causing it.

Wheels back on, (plus side no dragging now).

We had some quite good weather yesterday. So I drove her out of the garage!

And she actually made it to the end of the drive at least. This is the first time since I picked her up that I've been able to take another look at her. As it turns out the rear half of the sill on the passenger side is full of rust. The tried and tested method of poking it then hitting it with a hammer confirms it. So another job will be a new sill on that side. I have no access to welding gear so might be a garage job.

Next time I will remember to do pictures whilst its all out.

If you can still find any the best plugs I have ever fitted are Bosch Platinum. I think you need w8dp.

Been in my Spit for about 15 years now....

A good spark should jump 1/4 inch air gap to earth and be blueish in colour.

On the fuel system again we keep saying this but its highly likely you have some perished rubber sections on the fule line from the tank and your pump is sucking air as a consequence.

According to my 1974 Onward, Triumph Toledo 1300 HL, Diary of Servicing, Maintenance, Repair & Modification, the Bosch W8DP (platinum) spark plug which I have listed in there, is equivalent to various other spark plugs as follows:

Manufacturer . . . . Part No.

Champion . . . . . . N12Y or N12YC

Unipart . . . . . . . . GSP131

Bosch . . . . . . . . . W8DC or W8DP (platinum)

A C Delco . . . . . . . 44NS or 44XLS or 44XLO

NGK . . . . . . . . . . . BP5ES

Motorcraft . . . . . . . AG42

Lodge . . . . . . . . . . CLNY

KLG . . . . . . . . . . . FE55P

Beru . . . . . . . . . . . 17-7D

Hitachi . . . . . . . . . . L46PW

This is an old list from more than a decade ago, so I would be interested to learn what the currently available alternatives might be?
