Thinking about the future I fancied another project so at the weekend I viewed Tony54's Sprint as advertised last week on here.

Well a deal was struck & I am now the proud owner of a R plate Brooklands Green (?) Sprint.

No pictures yet as I need to arrange transport in the next couple of weeks.

I intend to restore this as a completely standard Sprint to compliment MSO (maybe as I get older I will prefer to softer ride of a standard car).

It won't be a concours resto as I want a usable car.

There are a couple of bits I need just from the initial inspection, so if anyone is breaking a car I need:

Headlining & visors (a previous owner has painted them black)

A body cut of the windscreen surround, inbetween the a posts, bizarrely the corners seem fine but the bit in the middle is crusty.

I'm sure there will be plenty more & I am sure I will regret selling all my spares but hey ho.

Cheers

Tony :D

Tony, I suggest that you change the threat title to something more suitable such as "197? Brooklands Sprint" or suchlike.

Let's have some photos. I'm sure we'd like to see how you get on with this one.

Yes people could get confused with a title like that while starting a new project or starting another new project. With such a title you also take a risk that it stalls for a few years and you start another another new project again, like an Allegro or something.

For the former, how about one of these.....
https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-614609?
For my Sprint I bought one of these last year, the Sprint uses a narrower version
of the 2000 headlining, so it is a simple case of trimming off the excess after fitting.
The one they sold me was OE in original packaging.

Thanks for that Ian, just checked they are out of stock but have new stock coming so I guess that won't be OE. Will definitely consider it.

A lot of the OE stuff comes from abroad eg New Zealand or Australia or South Africa.
Quite a number of years ago Chris Witor told me that he regularly had
someone in Greece trying to sell containers of unused BL stock.
I know that Rimmers do buy things as massive job lots from abroad,
remember the Rover SD1 stuff from India including new shells and every possible body panel :) .

When the headlining come back into stock it will be worth a call to see?

Well this project never really took off, as I have been offered a very nice Rover Vitesse SD1, so it is now up for sale here.

I can't ignore the figure that the Yellow 'Barn Find' recently made on ebay, which is why I have listed my car, I need funds for the SD1.

It's not too bad, with the donor blue shell for panels it could be quite a nice car, plus it is running, so I am hoping it makes at least as much as the yellow one. I just hope those same bidders who missed out are still out there, we will see.
