Tools are all stored in drawers, cupboards and bench shelves, which aren't seen in these photos, the larger stuff is against the wall under the dust sheets.

I have a shed for all the parts, which is handy as couldn't have them littering the garage :lol:

Personally I wouldn't bother with the engine bar support thing. You have a lift (yes I am a bit jealous!! :lol: ), a perfect opportunity to just drop the engine and box out in one go then whilst the engine and box are out you can detail them. Plus the other areas that you can't get to.

If I had your skills James and ability I would certainly be doing that :thumbsup:, but a lack of confidence leaves me doing things very slowly, and a lot more time consuming, but I'll get there before I retire :lol:

You can fully rebuild a car in a few weeks, nothing scares you, just get stuck in.

I was warned about the weight ratio thing a long time ago when I was rebuilding my Landy. That was very light in the rear and very top heavy at the front, so really conscious about that now - thanks for the heads up though.
Haha no worries Murdo, as far as I can see you're doing a good job. Just take your time and the most important thing is to enjoy it!

I fear mine will never be that clean, i never even got round to screeding the concrete floor, it was pressed into service too quickly and as a result, I have a bit of a dust problem (ignoring the general mess that is also a constant presence)

It wasn't far off that bad when I started the job 9 years ago. How time flies. The car is a 1980 1500HL so likely it had the same stickers as yours.

I wonder, have we ever had a survey of the different under bonnet stickers across the range and years on this forum?

At the risk of seeming pedantic, the screws you've used look wrong. I got some stainless ones that are an exact match to the originals, they probably came from Stainless Automotive Fastenings.

I have the correct self tapers, but just not at hand when I fitted the bits together.

I'm stripping the front suspension and subframe off the Sprint for cleaning up just now, and pretty sure it's the original shocks that I've taken off, as there's no receipt for their replacement.

Got the rocker cover back from powder coating and very pleased with it, it wouldn't polish up so got it done.

Got the original washer bottle and bracket cleaned, the dishwasher did a great job of the bottle, I robbed the new strap and foam off a Rimmer's one.

I went through a cardboard box this morning that came with the car. I didn't think there of was anything of much of use in it, but amongst other things, I found four sets of points (still to check they're Sprint ones), 6 new alloy wheel nuts, 4 new wheel studs , but the photos below was the best of them all, Pat's Rimmer's discount card, must be quite old as there's no "1" in the telephone number, something else to add to the history of the car. When was the one introduced.

There was also a brand new car cover, but it's made of stuff that will sweat badly, and probably the reason it's still in it's original bag - I won't be using it either.

That roughly coincides with when he bought the stainless steel exhaust off them, there's a receipt from 1993 for it, so likely he was given the discount card then. The exhaust still has the Rimmers label on it, label must be made of good stuff lasting 27 years... :lol:

I quite often find these Rimmers labels on stainless exhausts fitted to cars that have passed through my hands, even the one that was fitted to my own Sprint (off the road since 94, so fitted before then!) had a couple on the silencers.

What's surprising is, this one is on the first silencer box, so the hottest, must be asbestos paper lol.
