I sent the wheels away to "Wheel Specialist" in Inverness to get refurbished, I also sent an additional one I acquired so I could use it as a spare - because as far as we're aware the original spare has never been used, the tyre that came of it was as new and there's not a blemish on it, so no point getting it all dirty now after 40 years of hibernation, the wheels came up beautifully.

If you look very closely you can pick out the original spare.

This is the additional wheel I got done.

I also sent the centre caps away for re-chroming and they came up like new, beautiful job.

I suffer ever so slightly from OCD Tony :D whenever I do any work I spend more time cleaning up than actually working on the car

The price seems to vary a lot throughout the country Dave, diamond cutting is expensive.

All the lights fitted, NOS indicators and headlamps, all NOS doors seals, weather seals and quarter lights seals fitted too - I was very lucky to find all those bits - mirrors are NOS Wingard ones, that's the make that were fitted to this car as I believe that varied depending on what was available at the time, one of the mirrors came from the US for just £19 on ebay, a right bargain. These parts were just too old to leave on the car - well past their sell by date and not salvageable. Front bumper was away for re-chroming at this stage, spoiler and grilles were freshly painted. I managed to find a couple of sets of mudflaps, they were fitted to the car from new so re-fitted a new set, I do like the Dolly's with mudflaps - I got all the brackets powder coated and same are made new out of stainless - all stainless UNF bolts and nuts fitted. Polished up all the chrome bits before refitting.

Bits not fully fitted to this door as decided to try and sort a factory fault, I'll show photos later. I put on the last TAX disc that Pat paid for, before his passing, it came with all the paperwork.

Testing all the lights, great to see them back on after almost 18 months.

You're not the first person to say that Tony! A friend had Vauxhall Firenza, lovely condition and rare, he said he was so nervous using it he had to sell, shame really.

When's she completely finished and with fresh "Dinitrol" over the original Ziebart underneath, I can't wait to get her out - but getting dry days in the Outer Hebrides will limit how often I 'do get out'.

I was chuffed when I got the bumper back from re-chroming, it was a 3 month wait but the result was brilliant.

It was a difficult decision what to do about the boot mat, it was the worse for wear and really would spoil the boot area, I really did want to use it though. I discovered that Aldridge Trimming had the exact material, the same as Triumph used for the Dolomite, I had nothing to loose (but cash :? ) so sent down the original one to see if they could match it exactly and to confirm it was the same material - it was well worth the carriage charges for both ways, the mat it an 'exact' match - I have kept the original one (as I paid to get it sent back up :o) and have the two now, so can decide which to fit depending on what show I go to, best of both worlds, 'old and new'.

You can see how it's worn quite badly.

Image

You can see just how perfect a job they made of it, studs fit perfectly in the boot too.

Cleaning the floor, the glue was a bit of an nightmare to get off, Evo-stick glue remover was quite good though.
