Hi Phill,

I see that you’re using the Sprint diff. What sort of power / torque are you expecting ?

Are you planning on using an LSD or stronger halfshafts etc ?

Thanks, Richard

Richard
Power will be in region 250>280 Bhp (Standard RX8 231bhp)
I’ll got a Eaton M90 Supercharger from a Jaguar XJR. 4.0lt.
Which I’m hoping to fit😏.

She still has the LSD from when it was originally built from me.

I’ve noticed Ken Clarke does strengthened half shafts.
So there’s a option if needed.

Engine mounts are 99.9% done.
Gearbox mount just needs tidying up.
Exhaust manifold again is almost finished.
Propshaft is fitted. ( Slight balls up on rear diff flange size my fault but now has the larger 27mm UJs)
Also located a Greddy large capacity Aluminium sump pan.

Still lots to do.

Rebuilding the Sprint time taken so far, 111Hrs@15/12/2020
212Hrs @31/12/2021
352 @ 28/11/2022
455Hrs @ 20/10/2023
480Hrs @ 14/03/2024
This is time taken at the Sprint not necessary time worked.

Working on a ratio of just 7Hrs a day not including driving to the Sprint.
That equals to 68 days that doesn’t include weekends.

Not much of a update really.
With the full weight of the rotary engine and gearbox.
She’s sitting about 3 inches higher on the front.
New shorter springs ordered 2.1/4 200lbs at a starting point.

Got a Speedbox that changes a Sat Nav signal (Can also use VSS and can bus) into a mechanical rotation so I can use the original speedo.

https://www.speedhut.com/ecommerce/prod ... -Included)

Question is where did the 170mph speedo come from.

Also ordered a 10,000rpm Rev counter.

It looks like a Smiths Classic. Aftermarket product fom Smiths, you can get it with cable or electronic operation, I have the electronic version in the Dolomega as the Omega's speedo was driven off the ABS signal. Yours looks like a 1000TPM drive ratio, coincidentally exactly the same as the Sprint original.

PS, I'm under no illusions of being able to get mine up to 180mph! The Carledo won't go much over 115 @ 5100 rpm in 5th gear, even though the limiter doesn't cut in till 7200rpm. The aerodynamics (or lack thereof) stops it before it's anywhere near flat out.

Steve.

I’ve go no idea where the speedo come from.
I can only assume it’s always been in the Sprint but I’ve never noticed.

My goal is to get to the 170 mark LOL.

If that was a genuine 3 Rotor engine we are talking 170mph+
Seriously more power than a TVR AJPV8. 😏

Sad picked up yet another RX8 engine for parts/mocking up.
Just put some of the housings and plates together.

20B three rotor would be a major upgrade and ££££££s

Having a new alloy tank made up.
Capacity will be the same as the Sprint or more.
Surge pot built in as well as baffled.
Original fuel cap and part filler tube.
Will sit in between rear wheel arches.
Similar to the works Escort style.

Just knocking up a CAD (Cardboard added design) one to check fitting.
Still trying to find a suitable in tank fuel pump and filter.
Or will be a inline pump and filter.

Are you going to baffle around the pump.
To prevent lost of fuel when cornering etc.

Hence why I having a surge pot built into the new tank.

I don’t think there’s anything on the RR pump to prevent this ?

I’m sure someone here used a pump assy from a MX5.

Phil

Ive got a 4inch diam pipe im fitting inside the tank, and the pump will sit inside the pipe,it will act a bit like a baffle for the pump
