Not much to update at the moment.
Having to change the pedal assembly back to Sprint Clutch and Brake.

The Wilwood setup just isn’t going to work as I’m changing the steering column to the RX8 item,
As I intend to use the RX8 loom standard ECU for now and the immobiliser.

If anyone needs a Wilwood 3 cylinder brake pedal assembly with brackets,
Hangs off the original brake pedal with support brackets as well let me know.
I’ll also post photos later.

Reconditioned Servo and Brake master cylinder via Club Spares thanks also to Alun.

Now have a steering bump gauge so can also finalised the steering rack position.
Spare set of stag wheels also collected which will be fitted with the Toyo tyres.
Once I’ve decided what colour diamond cut and Gloss back or something else?.

This is time taken at the Sprint not necessary time worked.

Working on a ratio of just 7Hrs a day not including driving to the Sprint.

Many hours spent getting the Steering Rack (Escort Mk2 Quick Rack) in the correct position.
Using the Bump Steer Gauge and repositioning the Rose Jointed track rod ends.
Extra support also made to support the rack more.

Thanks to Alun for the Club refurbished Master and Servo.

Feels like a major hurdle passed.
Couple more plates to fabricate then seam weld the subframe fully.

Uprights and suspension arms all removed and will be cleaned and painted.

Bit of update.

Having to remake the offside engine Mount.
Which I thought I would have to anyway.

Going to be more under the exhaust Manifold rather than sticking out the front.
Which should balance the engine better especially if I have to pull the gearbox out for any reason.

Progress to change the offside engine Mount further back and inline with the nearside.
This was done as it would be easier if the gearbox had to come out.
The log exhaust manifold also allowed a bit more clearance now the Steering rack is in its final position.
Still needs a bit of fetterling and possibly a couple more gusset’s.

Downside I won’t be able to use the RX7 rotor housings. (Extra Exhaust Ports).

Not really much of a update.
Been tinkering around with the suspension and steering getting it all correct for hopefully the final weld up.

Photos will be updated soon hopefully.

Managed to get a few more hours on the Sprint.
Subframe has been modified to accept the Escort Quick Rack.
Rear facing torque arms
Revised location of the front anti roll bar the ends will now take off the top arms.
Mountings for the engine are now finalised.
All now need checking then final clean up and painting.

Next jobs are positioning the Oil coolers and the radiator makes the brackets etc.

I hate to say this, but merely reversing the balljoints is going to ruin your steering geometry vis-a-vis the "Ackerman angle"

I'll do a drawing tomorrow to explain how it works!

Steve.

I do understand the Ackerman principle.
Straight line running thru the Track Rod End and Ball joint Centre.
Ending to the centre of the axle.
Allowing the inner wheel a tighter angle on lock.

I do have something else in mind but at the moment this should be okay for now.
Someone did do a macphersen strut option.
That could change the steering arm angle.

I would like to keep the Stag Wheels thought.

Back from holibobs so managed some time on the Sprint today.

Making a chance from the Steering/Suspension Engine.

I thought I’ll work the placement for the twin oil coolers and radiator (All RX8 items).
Roughly in position but going back tomorrow with the oil coolers hoses and fitting’s to check.

Bonus looks like the supercharger may still be a possibility.

Sprint been turned round so I can get to the rear to drop the axle.
Check it over and fit the Rear disc conversion.

Photos to follow.

Twin oil coolers mounted.
Oil lines will need to be shorten to length.
Marked to the correct orientation and sent back to supplier for final cutting and crimping.
Original RX8 Radiator top mounts sorted.
Will sort the bottom mounts next.

All will be boxed in so all the air flow will go though the rads.

Steering column top Mount being fabricated to accept the RX8 column.

As I’m using most of the RX8 loom.
It will have the immobiliser and alarm from the RX8.
Giving a little more piece of mind.

Staying with the Stag Alloys for now with very old Goodyear 185/60X14 tyres.
These tyres will be binned before she hits the road.
My spare set of Stag Alloys have New Toyos Tyres.

But I would like a set of Minilites 15” later on.
