Thank you.

I fitted the brake m/c today that I bought from Alun & also fitted the new filter king fuel regulator.

The bolts for the inlet manifold arrived this morning so I also finished installing the carbs. I had a struggle with the small heater tube beneath the carbs. :fuming:

I fitted the new electric radiator fan from Stoney Racing. It fitted perfectly.
Fan Part no.: SRU-PULLC12-120W-SSFK
Fan Switch: SRU-TFSK32-95

The new battery arrived this morning. I had to modify the brackets slightly and the +ve cable is about an inch too short, plenty of slack but I will have to loosen about a dozen 'P' clips to be able to pull it through.

Sorry Dave. The fitting kit is similar to the plastic "through rad" kit except screws are use with nylocs. Fit the adhesive pads, fit a washer to the screw, push the screw through, fit pad then washer & nut on the front of the rad. Cut off excess thread.

It's been a while but this morning a new project turned up. Well half a project to be more accurate. A friend of mine, who I used to go to trackdays with, started this project more than ten years ago but after starting a family hasn't had the time to do anymore to it in that time (I'm sure many of you can relate to that). Out of the blue one day, a couple of months ago, I got a text from him and things progressed from there.

When you look at the photo of the car, it looks the part - I wonder how popular a 2 door Sprint would have been.

The 2 Door Sprint, would have been up against the Mexico and RS2000, but as a 4 door it was a Wolf in sheep's clothing and certainly gave them a run for there money :D :D :D

A Sprint could show a Mex or RS the door, at least from 0-60, even as a 4 door sleeper. Imagine how well a lighter, stiffer, 2 door Sprint would have done in competition. Had that happened, it might have been 2 door Sprints that make £50k a pop instead of Dagenham dustbins! Yet another missed opportunity by Triumph!

And luckily they didn't. Probably we would be driving Marina's or Escorts then.

You need to stop producing such a great motor... you are making me want one!
Loving the idea of a nice 2 door with Sprint power/drivetrain.

I started on the electrics today. I connected up the battery and the clock started working and a brake light came on. :? Looking at the wiring to the rear light cluster, everything looked ok. Then I looked at the connector block in the front passenger footwell and straight away I could see what was happening. The front looms had been changed to a Dolly HL but the rear loom was still a Toledo and the brake light was connected to the boot light wire, so I spent the next couple of hours tracing the wires & swapping them around on the rear loom to match the front loom. Pretty straight forward but I have one wire left, a green & brown. I'm guessing this is for reversing lights as that's what it is on a Dolly and there is a spare connector in the boot. Did Tollys have reversing lights?

Image

I've also started stripping down the alternator as the bearings are gone. Postie didn't turn up with the repair kits I ordered so hopefully finish this little job tomorrow.

My Toledo shop manual wiring diagram, printed in 73, says green/brown is reverse light "where fitted", Reverse lights were a dealer fit cost option on Toledos, but I think later cars had the wiring pre-installed. I presume the spare is just hanging around in the boot somewhere, not at the A post plug? There should also be a spare green/orange at the front side of the A post plug which is for the low fuel light that Toledos dont have.

I had the same A post plug mismatch on the Carledo, which I used a Sprint front loom on.

Steve

PS, just zoomed on the picture! D'oh! There really SHOULD be a matching brown/green lead on the front side to connect that loose wire up to as ALL the "long tail" cars had reverse lights as standard, the reverse light wiring should be in the HL loom!

When I converted my sprint to electric fan I drew these brackets up as I wasn’t sure of the ties through the rad fitting

Thanks, I'm using a Saab Radiator on my car, i made small brackets that wrap round the edge of the radiator, and the fan bolts to the brackets
