Thanks Martin, I'll give them a ring on Monday and see if they're up for it :)

With the badge, I do have the original one, but it's really quite tired. Good idea on the insert, there should be one on its way to me now

KSF went for MoT a couple of days ago... and failed :(

It was for an inefficient handbrake (I knew about this) and emissions, so was easily fixed :)

It's also ready to be picked up tomorrow!!! :D :D

I hope so!!!

I called the garage to check, they said they are giving it the final polish and refit, so it should be ready tomorrow or Saturday. I am keeping my fingers crossed :D

I think I'll be out with the spanners in the car park at Stoneleigh putting all the bits back on, and it needs the vinyl roof fitting, but I don't care

Not exactly under ideal circumstances, but I think I've got pretty much everything ticked off the list

Got the call to say my car will be ready to collect tomorrow morning - I can't wait! I've roped a friend in to help me reassemble everything ready for Stoneleigh.

After that I think the only outstanding tasks are to refurbish the wheels and fit the new vinyl roof and c-pillar trims :)

I haven't updated this for aaaaaaaaaaaages

Back-tracking slightly, I picked KSF up on the Friday afternoon, then spent all day Saturday reassembling it ready for Stoneleigh on Sunday. Had a fantastic day there and my Sprint was put on the club stand as a last minute stand-in, which really made my day :)

Image

Interestingly, the Carmine Red Sprint parked next to mine (belonging to tom16v) was built 110 cars after mine on the production line 8)

Managed to pick up a few bargains at Stoneleigh, best was the 2 brand new rear bumper corners for £25 the pair  and of course great to put faces to so many forum usernames

Did a rather scenic route on the way home, so that was a round trip of just under 300 miles.

Last weekend I drove down to Poole as it was my Mother's birthday, again no problems and I covered around 300 miles that weekend too.

Then, as you've probably read, the day after I got back from Poole I went to go to my local supermarket and half a mile from home my engine dropped a valve

Still got the wheels to refurbish and the vinyl roof to fit.

So for the meantime, here's some photos of the (nearly) finished article 8)

Looks the dogs howard despite the valve; what are you doing about the head / valve issue?
I'm going to take the head off to see what the damage is, but I'm guessing the piston is going to be knackered :(

The car's looking fantastic now. I cannot believe the insurance wanted to write it off.

Well done :D

I received the Heritage Certificate for my car today.

It was manufactured on 21st June 1978 and despatched to Heron Rossleigh in Edinburgh on 26th June 1978.

So it is much earlier than I thought! It was registered on 19th Jan 1979, so must have hung around for 6/7 months. Seems quite a long time...

Optional Extras were:

Headrests, Overdrive, Dunlop Tyres, Tinted Laminated Windscreen.

By 'tinted windscreen', does that mean a tinted top area, or just another word for Sundym?

Also turns out the boot/glovebox are still the original keys! Can't tell for the others as they don't have a number.

Useless but interesting information :)

Howard the optional extras mentioned above were standard on sprints from late 76 :scratchin: (not sure about the tyres though).

KSF has now gone....

But it's good news! Roy (triplecustard) has very, very kindly offered to repair the engine for me, so came down to London with his truck to pick her up. So she is off to Lincolnshire on holiday for a few weeks while Roy works his magic 8)

Thanks Roy
