Mart, I would be up for the track day if it gets off the ground, subject to the date, still shoe horning that vauxhall 16v engine in.
Would be brilliant for testing the old girl out.
I ve been to a few mixed car club track days and it always goes down well, a bit of banter, plenty of p__s taking and lots of giggling and smiling drivers powersliding round the track.

Lets get it booked.

OK. If this is going to get off the ground someone (me?) will have to do something about it. I know of 2 or 3 other Dollys from CT that would probably join in.

1. Are the Motorsport Events track days OK? (not forgetting these will be a weekday).

2. Which track?

3. When?

The List:

Mad Mart
Lewis
ALGIK
2F45T4U
Tinweevil
Neil907...Possibly
Ian Wilkes
eightiesflamer

If it's close (i.e. Coombe), I'll come along and shame myself in the fiesta. I'll write "Dolomite" in the dirt on the boot. 8)

OK, let's make it a bit easier, one question at a time...

1. Are the Motorsport Events track days OK? (not forgetting these will be a weekday).

Yep, I'll just need plenty of notice so swing the day off with work.

2. Which track?
Not too fussed as I'll probably drive over the night before and stop in a B&B anyway

3. When?
Again, not fussed but the more notice the better.

Is it alowed on these track days to run a proper racecar, slick tires, no numberplate, ofcours keeping the rules of that particular circuit /organiser.
We have done Spa Belgium some time ago, and overthere (great great track) and for us it was only to learn the track for a coming race, there was no problem, some sesions with only race licened drivers we could go full.
During a non licened driver sesion only alowed to overtake left.

Some years ago coming back from a race on Malory we add a short vacation after this event and stoped at Trucston and just for the fery at Lidden Hill, no way to put the car on the track, only hired cars.

Just your opinion.

Hans

On all the track days I have done as long as its not open wheeled you can run it, assuming that it passes the noise tests which seem to be getting sticter( 100 db at motorsport track days)
The main thing they wont let you do is time yourself.

1. weekdays are not a problem, like their prices.

2 I dont know anything about the tracks on there lists, the further south the better.

3 the later it is the better chance of having a car.

I have been watching this thread and keeping quiet, but I really fancy this. My Triumph is only 1300cc and front wheel drive and therefore stands a more than reasonable chance of being lapped by ALG1K before the first corner (pretty much regardless of track). I am also mindful of not wanting to become litter under the feet of you other faster boys.

But I still really fancy it. :D

Weekedays okay Mart, but would prefer not a Monday or Friday as these are very difficult for me to take off. Other than that fine. Anywhere sort of central southern England is good for me.

Now all we need to do is persuade Jod, and I will have someone to compare notes with.

Add me to the list.... :amigo:

Here's a few dates, hows about Colerne in July (see below in red). Remember these aren't "proper" circuits, they are usually MOD airfields marked out with cones. On saying that, it's still great fun and gets the adrenaline pumping and has plenty of run-off space should you get over enthusiastic. It doesn't matter how fast/slow your car is, it's still the same amount of fun. :D

On most track days now esp castle coombe you are not allowed to run slick tyres because of the big shunts thay have had ,

We do have build in lap timers, I can't see the problem.
next to that I absolutely dont know if these cars would run on "normal" road tires, if they would fit, now 10" goodyear biased slick becouse of 0' camber in the rear. (radials work in the front not in the rear)

Just day dreaming, spending some holyday in Britain.
