does anyone know the Timken number for front wheel bearings on a Sprint?

go to your local bearing suppliers with them and he should be able to give you a match for them other than that it all depends who's bearings are fitted to anybodys car dont see timken all that often most used now are skf and ntn

thats what I'm trying to do, but I don't have any spares handy and I need the car to get there! anyone have any numbers off some bearings so I can take them to get cross referenced.

It might be worth a call to someone like TDFitchett or Six Spares as they may just have one on the shelf they might be able to give you the number from - unless you have already tried that.

PS Yellow Banana, I'm on the wrong side of the pond in the colonies so its not so easy calling around.

How well does a Sprint hang with similar aged cars out there? Doesn't everything have a V8, even lawnmowers!

Adam, The Sprint has no problem keeping up with modern traffic in all conditions, it truly was a car way ahead of its time. Obviously up against a corvette at the traffic light GP its going to get spanked. Driving in New England is pretty crap really there are just no open roads to let rip, there are houses lining every road you come across, the zoning laws allow houses everywhere and everyone wants there couple of acres! There's no getting to the edge of town and finding good clear roads

ordinary Yank cars I've had the misfortune to drive, even though they have good sized engines are pretty gutless when all is said and done, but most of them have been autos. I'm sure the sporty ones are better, but not had an oportunity to drive any. Jap cars or giant pick-em-up trucks seem to be the order of the day for ordinary folk, neither of which appeal to me.

I really look forward to getting back home and going out for a blast down some country lanes.

According to Rimmer's catalogue the part number for the bearing kit is GHK1011. The Vitesse and the GT6 use the same front hub bearings which might be of help to you.

KWM338R - dug these out 4 u, sorry for the delay:

the larger bearing at the back of the hub is L44649

the smaller bearing at the front of the hub is LM11949

these were removed from my sprint and replaced with new, but it appears that one side had possibly been replaced. Timken ones are UK made, but one of the larger bearings I have is by TPS, poland, but the number on the Polish one is the same as the timken original one.
