They are held in on the back of the dash with two nuts. There are captive? studs in the back of the dash which they screw to.

Was just going to delete this topic as I just found out. I was working on a dash that is secured to the wall - I had about 4 inches to work in, however when I did get them off I found they too were knackered and had been superglued.
