I thought I was now reasonably well acquainted with all variants of the 60 mm diameter, Lucas 6WL 8-segment warning-light clusters, but browsing on British E-bay recently, I came across another variant whose lens features icons rather than words or abbreviated words. I wonder whether it was intended for the export market, in territories where English is not the first language of the local inhabitants.

Lucas Ignition Warning Light Indicator Dash Cluster Triumph Stag Scimitar 6WL - £24•99

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-Igniti ... rk:12:pf:0

Here we have a dash ignition warning light and indicator light cluster

To Fit: fitted to Triumph Spitfire Stag Scimitar Rover and others

Part Number : Lucas 6WL

Triumph cars’ Lucas 6WL 8-segment, 8+3 pin, warning-light cluster, with icons on lens rather than words or abbreviated words

From right of 12 o'clock position going clockwise shows:

red ziz zag icon - electrical charging?

blue filling-station pump - low fuel level emblem?

yellow or light-green right-pointing arrow- right direction indicator

light-green circle & arc with perpendicular - hand brake?

undecipherable emblem & colour

yellow or light-green left-pointing arrow - left direction indicator

yellow heated rear window emblem

yellow headlamp main beam!?!

I am aware that different variants of these Lucas 6WL, 8-segment warning-light clusters, were used on the Triumph 1300, 1500, 2000 & 2500, Triumph 1500 TC, Triumph Dolomite 1850, 1500HL, 1850HL & Sprint and Triumph Stag, but I have doubts about whether they were ever fitted to any models of Triumph Spitfire & GT6, Triumph TR1~TR8, Rover or Reliant Scimitar!?!

Apart from the Triumph Stag, I cannot find any instrument-panel illustrations showing an 8-segment warning-light cluster, for the other Triumph sports cars, in my copy of the following publication.

William Krause, Triumph Sports Cars, Enthusiast Color Series, MBI Publishing Company, 1998, ISBN 0-7603-0450-5.
