Cheers for the replies. The end float on the crank is fine as is the jackshaft and cam.

I've had the boss of fhe sprocket skimmed and all is well again.

Well almost...... I've ordered a new Woodruff key for the sprocket to crank connection and it won't fit. I sent it back and the replacement won't fit. Sent back again....guess what the next replacement wouldn't fit! All too big. I did wonder if it was the new sprocket but all wouldn't fit the old sprocket or the crank. Utterly pants quality of new parts. All the keys are poorly finished too.

Anyone else suffered from this?

The car is coming along nicely though. Nearly there!
I've also had a access hatch added in the transmission tunnel so I can top up the gearbox more easily. Underlay still needs tidying.

Neat porthole

Woodruff key: file it down to suit, the tension of the bolt clamping it is more important than the key fit (if it ends up being a little loose after reworking it)

I guess given the torque I had to use to get it to let go I can't imagine it would move on the crank once initially loaded and run after building.

That is indeed a very cool and very well constructed porthole.

I had the porthole fabricated by a the same company that have sorted out the metal work on the body.

I can always ask if they would be keen to make a few more. I would guess that they would need a fair amount of fettling to fit the car though as he made mine to measure.

Maybe a fuel filler cap and surrounding panel from a modern might fit?
