my 1500 fwd is hard too get into first and reverse - there's not much distinction between the respective gear slots. any ideas what could rectify that to make the gear selection more defined? thanks

Bushes at the bottom of the gear shift would be my first point of call

What Bruce said!^^^^^^^^

The FWD box will never have the precision of a RWD box, but you should be able to find the gears OK! There are a set of nylon and rubber bushes and little metal tubes that all wear in the bottom of the stick/linkage, some are the same as used in the Heralds/Spitfires 3 rail box. You can still get a kit for the Herald linkage from all the usual suspects.
