Guys, anywhere on the page i can get hold of parts ?? Looking for a fuel cap, had to bust mine off today as the key wouldn't go all the way in where it's been sitting around for so long !!

This is one Supplier. Others are available.
The original fuel filler cap is 601761 which is NLA
The alternative is GSS129 which has also been superceeded.
E-Bay is another source of hard to get parts.

I got one recently from Fitchetts, not sure if he has more. It was a) black plastic coated rather than chrome finished and b) not cheap at £30 +VAT.

But you need to be careful! I had to buy this one to replace one on a Sprint (which WAS a bright finished one) which had caused a long term running problem that had led to the car being laid up for 16 years! The problem? The cap wasn't vented, which created a vacuum in the tank and consequent fuel starvation especially under sustained high rev conditions like motorway cruising! The owner spent many hundreds of pounds trying to cure this simple thing and eventually gave up in disgust and stored the car! It had even succeeded in baffling the legendary Jon Tilson! I only found it by semi-accident, i'd renewed all the hard and soft fuel lines and drained and cleaned the tank as part of the recomissioning process. I put a couple of gallons in the tank to fire it up after, which it did, I then went and got another couple of gallons of fuel and when I removed the cap again, only a few minutes later, got that telltale "whooosht" sound of a vacuum seal breaking!

It's more than possible that this problem had existed on the car for many years and owners, undiagnosed, as who would check? A cap is a cap right? Since the original cap was NOT a locking one (none were, although many were dealer fitted with locking caps prior to sale) this simple mistake of fitting a non vented cap, may have caused a problem that has blighted the car for almost it's entire life!

The upside is that the car is now a brilliant survivor, unwelded thanks to Ziebart and careful indoor storage and with only 56k genuine miles on the clock!

Bruce, you are welcome to it if you want! But are you sure it will fit? Dolomite fitting is 3 internal lugs, same as Herald, whereas IIRC, T2000 is 2 external. Or is that only on MKIIs? Can bring it to Stoneliegh!
