You could use adhesive velcro Murdo, that might make it easier?

Tony.

Thanks Tony, but to get the carpet tight onto the cills I think adhesive would be better, as that's what was used originally, but need the best one for the job - hence my apprehension of just using any.

I see what you mean now Murdo. This the stuff i have used in the past and it seems to do the job.

How many more times will you want to change (or remove) the sill carpets?

The 3 stuck on bits (2 sills and across below the back seat) are pretty much sacrificial anyway. After YEARS of use and completely knackered, it's still hard to remove the originals, let alone get them out intact! The ones in my Sprint shell are actually in really good nick, it's just a shame they're the wrong colour! I'm going to try getting them out in one piece, if only to serve as patterns for new black ones!

I tend to use good old fashioned Evo-Stick in brush on, rather than spray on, form (more controllable) Does what it says on the tin!

I'm needing 2 of the floor blanks where the rear seatbelts anchor if anyone can help.
If you mean the black, plastic bungs that seal the holes where the bolts go when rear belts are fitted, I may be able to find you a couple. They are quite hard to remove intact as they are throw away once the bolts are fitted. But I have a couple of scrappers I can raid!

Steve
Yes, those are the ones, needing to fit two as original owner had a child seatbelt fitted.
Found a pair! PM me your address again Murdo and i'll get them off to you!

I've not updated the thread for a long time, but here's the door cappings back from Chapman & Cliff, the photo doesn't do them any justice, they're top notch.

The glove box door wasn't done, it's just there so you can see the match, it's actually a perfect match, it's the camera that's changed the light some how.

They asked for that to be sent down too so they could use the correct laminate, what a top professional job they've done

I have seen a lot of their work Murdo, as they are only a couple of miles from me. Superb workmanship but expensive..... But you get what you pay for :D
On the same Industrial estate there is a small body shop that will fabricate and repair most panels on any classic car. And again on the same estate a sprayer that is on par with the best of them.

This is now looking like a "resto" thread. Shall I move it there?

Hi Toledo Man, it's not a restoration though just maintenance.

99% of the car was only taken apart for cleaning thoroughly.

The car is totally original as it came from the factory with only having had an external respray to refresh it, door cappings refreshed, bumpers rechromed, new rubber seals and wheels refurbished and that's the total extent of the work, all covered under good care and maintenance.

Shortly I'll be adding photos of the untouched original floor with all the carpet glue removed, and having had a light polish, then the original carpet will be refitted.

It might be better off in the "resto" section. Not all the threads in there are restorations as such.

Brilliant thread (and car!) Murdo, truly. I see very few Sprints (if any) where I live, let alone an auto and white one !

I especially appreciated the moving description of Pat's life story, wonderful reading mate, thanks for that..

PS the wood restoration looked absolutely brilliant too, well worth the effort!

Cheers mate.

I'll need to re-add some of the photos via another source, as Photobucket have blurred their use for some reason.

I'm going to try and keep updating the page now that I've found another way of uploading the photos...……. I'll need to delete all the previous ones as photobucket have put their logo across them all :bash: here's some when I started fitting the headlamps seals, bowls etc.
