I have just dismantled my Sprint dizzy to find out why there is problems running at higher revs. Everything is in good nick apart from the vacuum unit, which I am suspicious of. I can't move it by sucking on it and I suspect the internal diafram is knackered.

Is it possible to use the unit from a 45D dizzy if I can't find a replacement?

No I am afraid not. Vacuum units are specific to the car, see the link below.

Dave (new to this) currently has three Sprint distributors from Ted's stuff that he's trying to get their broken mounting brackets weld repaired. If he doesn't achieve this, they'll be available for core, and I can separate the vacuums from them...

That would be a life saver if it is possible. The rest of the dizzy is in good nick. The PO seems to have bent the one on mine.

Interestingly the unit off the 1500 dizzy is nearly identical, the difference is a bend at the end of the lever arm.

And probably the internal spring also.

Probably true, but I was looking for a possible way of replacing a rare part. There must be a car with a similar advance curve to a Sprint.
