Does anyone know of a good product to use to replicate the original sound deadening attached to the timing chain cover?

Having removed mine recently, what was left of the material just chipped off - looks a bit like bodyfiller?

I was thinking some Epoxy Mastic type putty may do the job... any ideas folks?

Kind Regards

MC

The only time I have seen body/metal filler on a timing cover, someone had tried to cover a hole ?

Hi Matt, pretty much anything that will stick and add some mass will do the trick. Maybe get it nice and clean, key the surface with some coarse abrasive paper and de-grease, then use some P40 fibreglass filler to fill-in the recesses, that would do it.

Cheers Jod. Will give it a go!
Whether that big blob of BL 'cow pat' ever made much difference I don't know.

Only to disguise the sound of a knackered chain I suspect!

I used some Milliput in the end. Nice product to use and it should do the trick.
