I have managed to source a new vacuum unit, so now I need to rebuild the dizzy. It is already in bits.

There is no play in the shaft and I think the bob weight springs are OK. It took quite a bit of effort to remove them, so I don't think they are weak. Bob weights move freely.

I suspect this is because what I though was rust when I took it apart is actually copper grease. This has probably preserved the dizzy but it has also gunked things up a bit. However Haynes manual does mention greasing components, so should I do this and which bits should i grease?

There is a spiral on the bob weight shaft, I assume that is some kind of oil way? I have cleaned that up as well.
