Giving up the search for 15" i am now looking at a set of 14X5.5, et22, does anyone have any experience of this size, any issues and what size tyres are best.

I have a set of 14" minilites on my Toledo at the moment (sprint rear axle)
Not a fan of minilites, but not a lot of choice.
185/60 14 Michelin Crossclimates, fantastic tyres, especially if you use the car in winter.
(afraid I have no idea of offset)

These are 14x5.5 with a 27mm offset. Tyres are 185/60/14 AKA TR7 spec. No issues with clearance and available off the shelf at MWS in Brum. You can sometimes get very good deals from them at shows like Stoneliegh, these 4 anthracite wheels cost me £145. All new but 1 was the wrong colour!

PS car looks high as engine not fitted when this pic was taken!

I have a set of four new wheels in that size for my Sprint but I no where near fitting them I'm afraid
so have no experience of them in use,
however I have used 13x5.5 ET25 wheels without problems so expect the same from the new ones.

For tyres I agree with Clive on the size to fit and will be using Michelin too.

Thanks or sorting the picture Ian. I really need to sit down and set up an account somewhere. Trouble is I am hopeless at taking pictures (as in I only take pics when I really need to)

The crossclimates are really excellent, bout initially for a trackday at Silverstone last Feb (in my spitfire) but in terms of cold weather grip they were miles better than the Goodyear tyres they replaced, and they were not a bad tyre for most weathers. Later in the year the tyres had a good test at Castle Combe, and it was very wet. Again they performed very well. And testing on track is a proper test of a tyre, as speeds into corners and braking etc is all much harder. So I am confident in them, and will buy again.
In terms of comfort, I did the RBRR and used the wheels/tyres on the toledo. ALl felt good, and the tyres are still on there (off to do the Coast2Coast CT run in a few weeks, then pinch the wheels for my spit for a trip to the west coast of Scotland, then off to the Spa classic to watch/enjoy plus a track session, but only 20 mins)
