Could a member advise me what is the rectangular hole directly under the water pump on a Dolomite Sprint is and there any possibility that water could leak from it and if water is leaking from it what could be the possible cause
Is there any special gasket to seal the water pump cover to the block and is it better to fix it down with a silicone gasket sealant or gasket goo
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Regards Geoff

Yes. If water is leaking from the slot then one or more of the seals have gone. You can't just put any thickness gasket on the water pump cover as it has to have 0.010" clearance from the underside of the cover to the left-handed spindle nut. Do a search on here, this topic has been covered many times. :D
