OK, this is the plan forwards:
The expressions of interest shown thus far makes it a viable use of the spares fund, however, experience has taught us that interest does not always translate into full commitment. The cost per car set can be achieved at £xxx
We are therefore now asking for a deposit of £50 from each of you, and if sufficient proportion have been received by the end of this month (January 2020), the order will be placed with delivery estimated 12 weeks thereafter. If insufficient deposits are received, the order will not be placed and deposits will be refunded in full.
Deposits should preferably be made by Paypal to the Club Paypal account using FRIENDS AND FAMILY (this does not cost either the sender or the Club anything). Any received not using this service will be promptly returned as it will otherwise cost the Club a commission. Paypal is the preferred option as in the pessimistic case of not moving forwards, refunds can be made at the click of a button.
With your payment you need to state who you are, ie translating any nickname you use here, so we can keep track of who has placed a deposit, and clearly state 'Quarterlight Deposit' in the accompanying note; all associated funds will be retained in the Club PayPal account until the order is placed, or refunds are made.
If you are not a paid up member of the Club, you will have to become one in order to take advantage of this; irrespective of the other reasons, the Club is using some £10,000 of members' money to facilitate this and even if all expressions of interest translate into sales, we will be left with stock on the shelf and therefore still 'out of pocket' for sometime to come.
Finally, thanks to you all; when I first received the costs and worked out the numbers, I didn't expect to be moving forward with this quite so quickly, if at all!
The Club Paypal account details are in the Members' section of the forum and in the magazines.
