Yep discovered why my Sprint engine won't start, assumed it was because the dizzy was in the wrong place after changing the timing chain. Had a look in the float bowl, no fuel. Alas I also broke a float doing so, so have a new one on order (BTW these have been upgraded to some kind of anti-sink cell float, with level adjustment, apparently based on something developed for the military)

My plan is to replace the fuel lines in the engine bay with R9 line and add a transparent fuel filter, to catch any crud and so I can see what is going on. Is it OK to add this before the fuel pump?

Then prime the system was a hand fuel pump I have in the garage and try and fire her up.

I have a see-through filter jobby just before the pump on my Spitfire, works just fine.
Just take care, some of the stuff being sold as R9 is dangerous tat, even from some so called reputable sources. In the end I got sick of it perishing and went for Gates Barricade instead - not cheap or common, but it's the dogs wossnames.
