Question 2....

Who does the best Dolomite Sprint side stripe in black? Also, how far below the moulded part of the panels should it sit?

Thanks in advance,

Chris.

The club. I’ve just fitted silver club stripes to my car. Excellent quality. I think they should be fitted a couple of mm below the swage line of the car and mine may be a touch to high, but I like them theyve finished the car off nicely.

If you are having black coach lines I have some front wing sections, with the original profile, that goes down to a point.I only had the difficult to source side made up though(think it was passenger side?).

My Russet car has silver stripes too but I've seen quite a few with gold stripes. Anyone know if the factory fitted both colours?

Only silver and black, but we supply gold as well, all made to original specification.

Gold stripes were offered on 1850 and lower spec models, still a thick and thin combo, but the "thick" stripe was thinner than a Sprint one. The club offering is in Gold but at correct Sprint dimensions.

Steve

PS, i've already bought new ones in silver for your car!

My 1850HL has a set of gold stripes supplied by the club. I fitted them myself about 2 years ago. The car had gold stripes from new.

One of these days - mark my words - I'm going to come up with a Dolomite question to which Carledo doesn't know the answer!

Really pleased to have received my pin stripes supplied by the club, quality looks great!

Before I try and fit, any advice?

How far back should the taper start on the front wing? Where the cuts are made between doors/wings, is the small remainder folded over the edge of the doors or is it cut level with the end of the panel to prevent peeling.

Totally agree about the quality of the club stripes, they're excellent.

Remember the stripes go under the chrome on the rear wings, see a few that stop short. Apparently there could be differences in sides (from the factory) as there was a fitter on each side applying them, and accuracy wasn't their highest priority. Here's photos of my front wing, I hope that helps.

Exactly as Murdo shows, about 1½" from the front. I doubt if there is a precise measurement and nobody is going to check.

Just wrap the ends around the doors. You can cut it down a bit if you have excess.

Thanks Murdo, the photos and dimension help a lot.

I did have a look at your restoration posts whilst looking for some pictures to try and answer my questions - what a superb car you have, looks great!

Unfortunately my car has some ill fitting panels, so the swage line isn’t great. Hoping the stripe will take the eye off of it a little.

Am I right in saying the front wing stripes are fitted separately as they come as one piece, the doors and rear wing are done in one hit, cutting between panels after.

Should you pick up on this update, how did you get on with the Chris Witor polyurethane engine mounts?? Need some for my car, I did fit pattern ones but when I looked under the car the oil pump was just about touching the steering rack, so had to put on usable second hand ones!

Thanks again for your help,

Chris.

I didn't fit mine Chris, it was the painter that did them - I just handed him the stripes so not sure how they came, other than I know they weren't in one piece per side.

The engine mounts look identical and should be good as their superflex, I won't be taking my car out until next Spring so won't know what they're like until then - but his other stuff is good and can't imagine them being anything other than good too - they're made with stainless steel too. Hopefully someone that's fitted them and using their car will reply - here's a couple of photos though.
