As it says above, my dash top has a split in it, I could repair it, but I know I have another I was gifted in the loft, so.... I have removed the instruments, taken out the dash vent and the three screws behind it, now I can feel 2 nuts either side of the dash, going upwards accessible thru the 2 holes in the glove box and 2 behind the instruments and 2 more bolts in the A posts, firstly, what size are the heads of the nuts going upwards, I have tried all I have socket wise, knowing my luck they will be BA, which will involve a day out to collect my BA sockets, And are there any more fixings I have missed,

They're all standard Imperial sizes. From memory most are 1/2" AF there are some bigger ones holding the pedal assembly but I assume you'll be avoiding disturbing those if you just want to swap the dash.

The nuts holding the crash pad to the screen frame are usually 3/8"A/F, besides the bolts you've mentioned, there are 2x7/16" bolts holding the crash pad to the steering column and you will need to disconnect the 3 cables (best at the ends AWAY from the panel) and 2 wires from the heater control panel as this comes out with the crash pad.

Thank you Gentlemen, Its out, and I haven't needed a blood transfusion either, makes a change for me..... the downside of the removal has sort of confirmed my suspicion that behind the dash needs re-wiring or at least a good comb, cutters and crimps at the ready.......
