Hi

I have been quoted £700 plus vat to overhaul my head with a unleaded conversion. Seems expensive. I see Quiller is offer a converted head for £369, any on used them or could advise someplace else?

I was going to be happy with anything under £600 total but £700 plus vat is a bit to salty for me!

700? 'kin ell, that more than I paid for a Peter Burgess ported and flowed unleaded 1500 head earlier this year!

Yip, worst of it all, I had a grand in mind to get it ported and to stick in a lumpy cam, but I was to scared to ask for that after the cost of just the lead free conversion.

Peter's prices are on his website for 1500 heads:
Standard Leadfree £260
Econotune £390
Fast Road Leadfree £500
http://www.peter-burgess.com/page12.html
Good service and about 10 week turn around on my head Nov 2019->Jan 2020 for me.
It only cost about 30 quid to send the head to him by courier, but I went down to fetch it in person and paid when I collected.

For 1500 cams I used http://www.newman-cams.com/ ( £160.00)

The Burgess head and a "not too lairy" cam from Newman is a nice driving combination in a 1500 (although mine is in the Spitfire)

I have decided just to stick with the lead free, and if I get board I might think about a engine conversion, I do have an old 1800 CVH out my old sierra....
