Hi All.

I see an email a couple of weeks ago asking for updates on our cars, so thought I would put a few pictures on and a small update.

Since buying the car from Will he has been great answering any questions I had on what was done and what I proposed to do this year to continue to upgrade the car.

Main jobs done this year.

1. New radiator and electric fan from Rouse Motorsport.
2. Evans waterless coolant.
3. New thermostat and sensors.
4. Added the chrome trims back to the sills.
5. Had the spare wheel refurbished.
6. New 195/60s all round including the spare.
7. GAS shocks all round, height adjustable. (I do like these).

Had the seats cleaned which look good and carried on detailing the panels.

That’s it for this year. I drive it frequently and it behaves very well for a Sprint !! ( Touch wood).

Next year I have a few things lined up, but need to earn a few bob more to carry on my spending habit.

Cheers.

Richard.

Looking good :D but the email was a request for photos/text to be sent to our Editor for publication in Dolly Mixture. The response was great and consequently we have more than enough material to fill this issue of the magazine. Please do send this to Steve for inclusion in a future issue.

Matt.

The dash and the door cappings were done by Will. He should start a business !!

It’s really tidy inside. When the roof lining was done we agreed to put new carpets in as well. It’s had a clean and the seats deep cleaned and is like a new car inside. The inner door sill plates Will managed to find some new old stock and they finish it nicely.

Always find things to do, but it’s not cheap as we know.

Cheers.

Richard.

Thanks JD Sprint.

I put her into storage last week for the winter period.

I am however intending to have the distributor out and sent off to Holland. 123workshop are going to adapt one of the 123 bluetooth distributors for me so I get back a plug and fit unit without all the hassle. They have quoted me 700 euro's but they take care of the bracket adaptor, all I have to do is fit it and it should go. Still a few more conversations to go yet but Leen at 123workshop seems to be on the case.

I will also have the carbs off, have the weber manifold blasted so it looks like new and fit a brand new pair of 40's.

That's the plans for the winter and the winter being bloody long in the UK I have plenty of time to get those two jobs done.

Richard.

Carbs and manifold off today for a complete strip down, rebuild and blasting.

A company named Weber Carb Reconditioning Services Ltd in Essex were recommended.

See website. https://www.weber-carbs.co.uk

The owner is a guy named Paul who is really helpful.

I also hope the club manages to get the 123 dizzy brackets fabricated as I want to do the conversion whilst the manifold is off.

All ready for spring I hope !! What could go wrong, it’s a Sprint !!

Richard.

Hi Richard,

I put the 195x60s on last year and at the same time did the Gaz suspension upgrade. I sat the car down reasonably low and get no rub at all front or back, or on full lock.

I am told all Sprints are slightly different but so far no problems.

A mate put 205s on his Sprint around 30 years ago with no issues but I played it safe.

R.

Just about finished my Winter / Spring jobs for this year. Happy with the results. This years jobs included the following. Few pictures attached.

1. Did the 123 dizzy conversion. That’s a game changer and completely changes the car. For a start it now starts again when you fill it up at Tesco.
2. Had the carbs and inlet manifold off. The twin 40’s were rebuilt. Car now a lot smoother.
3. Changed all the hoses for Rouse Motorsport silicone hoses.
4. All the wheels were completely refurbed.
5. Both rear lights were changed for left and right NOS units. Also changed all the bulb holders.
6. Replaced both front indicator and rear light gaskets.
7. Replaced the rear boot and side chrome around the rear boot area, and repainted the satin black.
8. Swapped out the exhaust for a new stainless system.

That’s about me for this year. I drive it at least four times a week and it’s a joy to drive presently.

Richard.

Took the car in for a rolling road run today. She got up to almost 123bhp, which although a couple of horses below name plate, I was very happy with.

The guy who ran the test explained the fueling was pretty spot on, tick over was smooth as was the power curve. He said you could always improve it, but I only use it on B roads and never intended her for track days.

Overall I was really happy. The car is really smooth, starts perfectly and idles bang on 1000rpm.

What more can you ask of a Sprint ??
