Just replaced all the old fuel hoses with R9 and I found a lovely bodge ot the back of the car. There was a steel pipe hanging down over the rear axle, I always assumed it was some kind of breather, so left it alone. However when I took a closer look, I realised it was the original steel fuel pipe.

My guess is the steel pipe rusted out and instead of replacing it, the previous owner got a load of rubber fuel hose and cable tied the hose to the pipe and then clipped the old pipe to the body to support the hose. Quite a clever bodge, which I only noticed when the old fuel clips began to fail.

I have now replaced it with 8mm bore copper pipe, held in by new clips because I don't think having over a meter of rubber fuel hose at the back of the car is a good idea.
