Does anyone have experience with installing the plastic chrome look beading into the front screen seal?

Any tips for installing?

Can the original chrome be reinstalled if removed carefully?

Hi

I fitted it to my 1500TC and it wasn't to hard but it leaked. I then used some not setting windscreen sealant and it was fine. I wouldn't fit one without sealant.

Regards

Barry

The chromed plastic bead goes brittle due to UV exposure but if you are VERY careful and it's not too old, they can be removed in one piece. However, trying to fit a used one to a new rubber is a different matter as even if using the special fitting tool to open the groove in the rubber a certain pressure needs to be applied and that will surely cause breaks to occur.

Shiny new trim only costs about a tenner and finishes the job nicely; a detrimental economy to try to re-use the old one in my opinion.

I wouldn't bother trying to refit the "chrome" filler.
I used a new one with a new finisher and fitted it with the Moss supplied tool.

https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/windscree ... 81101.html

I used the smal triangular tool.
The windscreen fitter advised me that if the "chrome" finisher is not fitted then then screen is more likely to leak.
HTH,
Tony.
