Hi

So, that's it back from the powder coating and what a difference it has made. I bought it from a farmer and it was buried in the mud so I am surprised it looks this good!

Currently replacing the pinion seal, inner and outer bearing seals and wheel bearing. Then I will fit MG studs and make up a bracket for a rear disc conversion as per my Standard 1500TC axel.

Regards

Barry

Thanks, but the hubs are a bit of a pain with my cheapo 12 ton jack struggling, hopefully the other side is easier (although nothing some fire and technical tap didn't fix)!

Regards

Barry

Didn't take any photos, but there's a blank space on the under side of the axle as if it was made for a drain plug, we fitted a drain plug in Richards car as well, may be he took pictures

Dave

PS if you do fit a drain plug i used a peace of card covered with grease in between the axle case and the crown wheel to catch any swarf clean the card and re grease regularly

Hi Guys

Now all rebuilt, with a sump plug and MG TF studs fitted. ( I used a plug off ebay for motorbikes with a magnet size M10 x 1.5 and although the red anodising is not really in keeping, I like it).

To keep the end float correct I cut up the old backing plats to use as spacers as I didn't have any 3mm thick steel to make one, and it was a lot easier to cut them up as I have no need for them anyway.

Also some of the eagle eye'd of you might see the grease cover (the bit that covers the back of the hub) has been removed while changing over to MG TF stubs. I cant see it causing an issue but I might replace if needed, although I wrecked one of them so hopefully not!

As per my standard axel I will be making up a disc conversion with MG TF discs and callipers, but in the mean time I am going to leave it as is and start on mocking up my BMW engine with my spare subframe.

Regards

Barry
