All.

Driving today when the car all of a sudden had a loss of power.

I was on an A road at the time. I put my foot down which temporarily cleared the problem but shortly after the lack of power returned. Then a rattling noise appeared.

I drove the car home which was about 10 miles and the problem persisted.

I got the bonnet up when home and the rattle appears to be coming from the carbs which I agree is weird. The power loss does appear fuel related but I am not 100% sure. As for the rattle I need to investigate further.

Any suggestions ??

Sorted.

When I put the K&Ns on I removed the trumpets that sit in the Webers.

I spoke to the Weber guy I use and he said put them back on as I had the 85cm version filters as they will sit inside no problem as there is adequate clearance.

What had happened was one of the Venturi’s had popped out and was rattling around in the bottom of the filter, hence the power issue and the noise.

Trumpets back on, K&Ns back on, problem sorted.

Richard.

You were lucky then, I had one of the K&N fixing bolts on my Weber carbs come loose and something got into the engine (Alfa twin cam 1300cc) and destroyed it.
