Hi Mart
Can you help?
I am in the process of stripping doors for paint prep and thought I'd investigate the idea of removing the hinge pins so I could just drop them back in when I came to fitting (I remember you saying this is all you had to do on your orange Sprint).
Firstly, I had grind off the bottom of the pin as it had been peened over, then drfted it out with a 5" nail. The pin also has splines at the top to hold it position.
It all looked fine
I done this as initially as an experiment using the Off Side Rear door bottom hinge, I took it off to work on it on the bench. I bolted the hinge part back on the door, offered up the other half but found I was unable to knock the pin back in due to the pressings in the door. (see picture).
The angle is too acute to allow the pin to go back in, I neither want to reduce the pins length or start hammering the door to get it in.
How did you get yours in?
