Yes! it runs at a tidy 1000 when its warmed up, I use the choke when its cold, but it doesn't speed up a lot, just runs lumpy.

I'll have a look at it at t' weekend

Well there lies one of your problems. Sounds like some carb cleaning and adjustment and a retest of the oil. Suspect as said earlier, its to do with either mixed or just old oil.
