Back on the road ,just got to get tax now and i can start sprinting again,on driving to the Mot station after 7 years off the road i forgot how enjoyable driving the old girl felt and also the steering felt so much better after replacing the bottom nearside balljoint which was doing nothing as it was completely knackered (also mot point) ,next year new vinyl roof and a respray and hopefully will be able to attend some of the meetings.anyone know of a decent trimmer who can replace the vinyl roof ?

Well done Glenn...
I hope you were happy with Gary's efforts.

Sorry I wasnt much help on the engine mountings...I still havent found them!

Thanks Jon, Gary’s work is spot on, there is nothing that’s to much trouble for him people of his caliber are a dying breed, also when I compare what Gary charged me compared to some of the so called specialists he is very reasonable, already booked my car in for next spring for a respray, also Jon thanks for your help in pointing me in his direction and the help with bit's and bob's. Just for those interested he replaced my offside inner wing and chassis rail (will post pics if anybody needs testimony to Gary's work) and several other patches. Glen

I saw your car down at Gary's place last week, it looks just as good up close. I hope mine comes out as nice. :D

To be honest it looks better in the pic, the paint is mismatched in several places but the main thing now is she is solid after all the welding, the chassis rail and inner wing where as thin as paper before replacement, do you also have a car with gary ? as he has a few dollys awaiting work.

If it had been delivered by the time you went down there, it was the shell in various hues of primer... :D

We replaced the roof on my Sprint at this years resto show. I have written an article for dolly mixture and sent it to Glynn, hopefully it will make the Xmas edition.

I would try it yourself, it's a bit of work, but not too hard :)

That looks a excellent job on the roof, not sure i would attempt to try that myself,i also have one of those glass sunroofs fitted so thats probably more work involved in fitting also have seams and quite like that look (more hassle?), i intend to remove the vinyl myself and prepare for whoever replaces the vinyl, what is the best paint primer combination to use as i will have to flat down the surface as there is slight rust bubbling in some areas, was advised by someone to use red oxide primer as a base but not sure which topcoat, hammerite perhaps ?

We rubbed it down with wet and dry, 320 grade if i recall correctly, then I painted it with hammerite smooth straight to metal aerosol. I would imagine having the sunroof makes this a little more difficult, but you can certainly do all the prep yourself.
