...from Jigsaw, can anyone weigh in pro or con as to the quality I can expect?
I have no experience with this firm, but it seems to have an xlnt reputation.

Cheers,

I think Scott is the best man to ask, he practically lived there not so long ago.

Its the same with most commercial organisations Richard; you can find different folk who will praise and disparage in equal volumes dependant upon their personal experiences. I understand the 'str91' they now sell is a replica item they have commissioned, so whilst any contract with you would be to Jigsaw, it may be the provenance and capability of their supplier which needs questioning in this instance.

Gets over the perrenial problem of sourcing shims though...

I'm sure it will be fine. I'm fairly sure it is sourced from one of the bigger Cam companies but due to economy of numbers, Mark managed to get a run done which makes it cheaper to buy from him and obviously he still has a profit margin in there.

His internationl postage service is very efficient so you won't have any problems on that front either.

The postage is a backbreaker: 72 pounds -- that's $144. man, that's tough to swallow.

Or if you post it to me I'm in New York for the day on the second of January...

Thanks, all. I think that I am going to buy the cam, but not just yet. I notice the dollar to pound exchange ratio is tipping even more into Britain's favour lately. Well, that's great for you guys, but a pain in the wallet for us yanks.

I won't be needing the cam until the Spring, so I will order it around the end of January. Hopefully by then the exchange rate will ease somewhat for us.

This is a great time to be buying anything in the USA, it seems. Oops. I forgot. We don't make anything here anymore except McDonald's hamburgers and the odd Harley-Davidson.

I dunno about that - you're fairly useful for buying electronic gadgets from, even if you don't actually make them! I know someone who discovered that it was cheaper to get a new PDA he wanted by flying to new york, buying it there then flying back (Including the plane tickets...), than buying it here...
