I was going to ask if there was any point gambling on a Heritage cert for our mini. The current cutoff is 01/01/76 and ours (Morris on the V5C) was registered in early April. But it seems there's a gap in the records for minis (see drop list).

Anyone know any other way to find out?

This site suggests 74-75 build, our chassis no is X-L2S1N-2xxxxxA. I've emailed BMH to ask if there really is a 7 year gap in the records.

Edited to add: Seems there is a gap in the detail but they should have the build date.

(The square braces in that filename are confusing phpbb.)

I would guess more like 75 than 74 from those figures but with 76 cars starting at 34xxxx yours should be safely in 75 build (though it doesn't say WHEN in 76 that number started).
I would think its more likely an error with the drop down than a lack of records. Or possibly that period is listed under Mini, rather than Austin, or something even more bizarre! This is BL we're talking about!

Wasn't it 1971 when BL made Mini a brand in it's own right? If it's the original boot lid then the build date should be stamped on the lock, been a while since I had a Mini though.

Yep, date stamps on the components should give an approximate build date. Switches, brake drums, wiper motor, distributor, etc all have them.. providing they're original.

They're all within a month or two for my January 1962 car..

Listed on Wikipedia:
