Gudgeon - an interesting word.
From Google it apopears to have originated from the French 'Goujon' but I'm at a loss to fathom how that came to mean the small end pin thingy in an engine. :scratchin:
Anyone?

Gudgeon came from gudgeon which came from gudgeon! Multiple meanings in french, went fishy in the middle.

gudeon (n.2)
"pivot on the end of a beam," c. 1400, from Old French gojon "pin, peg, spike" (13c.)

Weird one!
