Because of heavy snow that day, only about 250 (by my count) were able to make it to the thanksgiving service. However, Chessington Evangelical Church stream their services live, so here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJfUvnJDbzE I was there for the service and found it strangely enjoyable; some of you may recognise the man from the eulogies, and they may help those who never met him may understand him better. It's a shame they dubbed out the singing, it was robust. |

Yes, sorry, the first 13 minutes is introductory music as folk took their seats. The eulogies start at about 25 minutes in, a couple of friends first and then his son later on. |

Very saddened to read this, I knew Jon was ill, but last time I spoke with him he was in rather good spirits. Jon helped me out on numerous occasions - must have spent hours on his driveway tinkering with carburettors, tracing down misfires and on one occasion crafting gaskets out of beer mats as I'd been sent the wrong ones - all while engaged in some rather interesting discussions about all sorts of nonsense  He will definitely be missed.

I have just seen this as I don't visit the forum very often and I just can't do more than to echo what has already been said... I met Jon a few times as he helped me fettle my Toledo and gave his advice on many things with regards to its many maladies! Having only met him a few times I can't say more than what I learnt when I was in his company, he was a genuinely friendly chap who was seemingly willing to help somebody that he'd never met before and impart them with so much useful knowledge in a way which made you think you'd known him for eons! What a great loss. RIP Jon I hope there are some nice motors 'up there' to fiddle about with... |

Indeed! A very nice tribute it is too..very touching. To include the carb tuning topic was also a very nice idea.
