Hi fellow Dolly Tragics,
After about 12 months on the rotisserie (damn work got in the way - work is the curse of the drinking man and the car restorer), I have finished stripping Dolly, cutting out any and all rusty bits and welding in patch panels, and she's sitting there now in a new coat of epoxy primer, ready for rebuilding...

I've looked at lots of types of sound mats, rubber, tar and butyl based, and the one which takes my fancy is a product called Lizard Skin.
It looks like whichever I choose will be equivalent in thermal and acoustic performance and will cost about the same- around $450 (give or take $50 or so), but the Lizard Skin one can be sprayed on now and topped off with stoneguard and colour coat.

The thing I like most is that I can spray an acoustic layer on the firewall in the engine bay, then follow up with a thermal layer, and I won't need to install the eyesore which is the Sprint Bulkhead pad....(or which it will become once the ravages of heat, oil and time attack it). I can also spray it on the roof and firewall (internal) floor (internal and external), boot and doors

My question is has anyone used this product, and if so, how happy are you with its actual performance as against the (obviously understated and modest) claims of the manufacturer?...

I have a fine and extensive collection of old rust. I store it carefully in a Stag.

Can only find one UK importer, so don't reckon it's big over here. I've seen spray acoustic insulation stuff, like a very dense foam when sprayed, used in office partitions for meeting rooms and the like, they certainly work. You could certainly cover some larger areas like the gearbox tunnel, bonnet and combine with the ceramic heat barrier stuff would be a neat way of increasing the sound deadening.
