Greenbrier a lovely vehicle. Is it the van or the pick-up version? Would love a good day van, would happily get rid of the Silver Streak Clipper trailer to fund one.
Regards,
Richard

My greenbrier is the passenger van version with 3 bench seats/ There was also a cargo van version and as you say a pickup with either a loadside door or a rampside door.

Carledo, I agree the cavalier mk111 is a brilliant car, far better than the one it replaced, I would get rid of the Xsara Picasso & keep a cavalier better made.

My Fleet is -
1973 Triumph Toledo (every day use)
2007 Isuzu rodeo (every day use & towing trailers)
1974 Triumph Stag (been sleeping 32yrs soon to be woken up)
1986 Toyota hilux (just to drive round the land car"nt kill it)
2014 Range rover evoque (Wifes not allowed nr this one)
2006 Vauxhall tigra (just when the sun shines)

My daily is an 03 Mondeo ghia x duratec petrol. Had it seven years, 120,000 with it. Everything still works.. incredibly reliable..if it died tomorrow, I could not complain.

Back up is a 1996 BMW 2.0 se. E34.. Solid as a rock, superb build quality, handsome car..lovely thing.

Reg, I didn't know you had an E34. I'm hankering after an E39 myself as the other half doesn't get on with the E36.

Hi Dave. Yep, had it around 4 years..it's docile and dependable..like an old Labrador dog! I"ve wanted an e34 since they arrived in '88. The last of the handbuilt, quad - lamp beemers.

Don't know much about e39's..I do know that they are another quality German motor though!

The moderns consist of

2018 Volvo XC60 - Just does everything well if a bit boring
2017 BMW 218d Active Tourer - Because cheaper on lease than a Fiat 500X
2018 VW Transporter Kombi - Work van / family bus

The Sprint and 1850 are also joined by

1977 Triumph TR7

1987 Ford Escort XR3i

1988 Peugeot 205 1.9 GTI

Also far better than the Vectra that replaced it!

If it was my choice alone, the Picasso would have no place in my stable. Unfortunately my wife has 3 prolapsed discs, a torn rotatotor cuff in her left shoulder and only an auto licence. She needs a soft riding car that is neither too low (like the Cav) or too high (like the Shogun that preceded it) and must (obviously) have an automatic transmission. She absolutely LOVES the Picasso and it suits her needs admirably, so it will be staying for the forseeable future.

There is only one complaint I can make about the MkIII Cav, it's the same one I make about the Dolomite! They never made an estate version! Apart from that, they are both just about perfect!

And therein lies my dilemma! I already have the Carledo, for hooning around in and it's tax free, the Dolomega is in sight of completion and will also be tax free. And this car will do everything that I previously used the Cavs for, but be cheaper to run. With retirement on the near horizon and the imminent loss of my storage facility even closer, something has to give and it looks like being the Cavs, which are the least "necessary" cars. I'd rather pass them onto someone who will treat them kindly than leave them to rot on the drive!

My toolbox currently comprises:

2007 Alfa 159 Sportwagon 3.2 Q4 Auto; daily driver, but a lot of fun
2007 Aston Martin V8 Vantage 4.3; for fun
1998 Lotus Elise S1; for fun, recently MOTD and recommissioned following lay up
1974 Dolomite Sprint; for fun
1999 Alfa 166 2.5 v6; for towing, and fun

Then there are the ‘other’ Dolomites...
