I've just been ordering some bits from Chris Witor, and he says the Sprint engine mounts should be available from next week. |

I’ve been keeping an eye on the website myself, and emailed Chris a couple of weeks back. At that point they were advertised at £36, now they are £40 according to the website. I’m taking it that’s each? So with the vat and postage £100 ish for the pair, which is fair enough if they are fit and forget items. Do you know whether they are a standard spec, or harder, Shore ratting, I forgot to ask?! |

I think it's a fair price too, it's £40 for one. They're superflex.

1500 and 1850 engine mounts are also in development with Chris. Richard Old has been working with him on these and they will have the correct shore rating as mentioned. Encouraging, especially if they are 'fit and forget'. The bushes Chris sells are always well regarded, so I'm sure they will be a good investment. |

I hope they will last but I will let others try first. These enginemounts are designed to have an engine to sit on and not to hang on. Some engines hang on mounts but these have a very different design. These new ones can be superflex but are still hanging. They have to be very sturdy to stay in shape and carry the engine. Maybe too sturdy making things break and tear. The original design is not correct and I think superflex will not change that. I have used Big Healey engine mounts in the past on the RH side as these are designed for hanging. On one Sprint I did modify the brackets to have both original mounts sitting 45 degrees and one still to fit subframe I have a tubular mount with round bushes on the RH side. Hope it will work out but in this case it's not the rubber material that is to blame but the design using a carrying mount as a hanging one. Jeroen |

I wasn't aware they were a different design. I thought they mirrored the original ones, but just used superflex.Hope it will work out but in this case it's not the rubber material that is to blame but the design using a carrying mount as a hanging one. Jeroen Is the OS one not a hanging mount. |

LH side is sitting and the RH side is hanging. Both are the same mounts LH and RH but the design and shape of the original mounts are for sitting. That's why the original setup isn't quite a succes and the new ones being superflex only the material has changed. Jeroen |

Maybe with your rep, you'll have more luck! Steve |

They deffinately look the part Murdo, and they’ve got to be better than the rubbish repro ones sold by most! I think Im going to wait until someone else fits some, and road tests them before I splash out though. As others have said the original design is wrong, but my guess is that these super flex mounts will surely be the best answer that’s available off the shelf. |

I'd never noticed they were offset before now. Which way do they go round? |

Sorry should have said for a Sprint . Just going through the new car and finding little bits that need attention . Most of the rubber bushes are perished so will need replacing . I wanted to get the car mobile for the rest of this year and then start the work over winter, but some jobs need doing now ! Engine mounts , gearbox mount, brake servo is u/s etc etc . Chris. |
