Is the spring on the throttle linkage the same for an automatic Sprint and manual, and are they the same as the 1850? Who has the best ones?

If you mean the spring on the bracket underneath the carbs; where the accelerator cable ends, the parts book has UKC1624 listed for both the 1850 and the Sprint. I can't see any separate part for the automatic.

The 3 springs at the top of the carbs; are 145197 for the 1850 and 159463 for the Sprint.
I don't think there would be any prefered source: it's a spring; a common engineering part.
Tony.
