And the sheeple will help them do it, they will probably "love it" and vote for it... because they'll be told to.

I don't trust the government with the data I HAVE to give them, let alone a CBDC.

"There's nothing wrong with it...."

"It's so convenient..."

"It will stop addiction..."

"Some people need to have their expenditure monitored..."

Meanwhile, anyone who gives custom to retailers who insist on 'card only' transactions are helping to hammer the wedge firmly home. I now use cash by choice, and walk out of any establishment who try to dictate otherwise.

First step will be payments from the government will only be into CBDC accounts they control. then you'll only be able to pay for certain services using them... I hope that enough people will boycott any retailers/early adopters that it'll sink without trace, but I doubt it.

Another attempt to sneak in the "cashless society" via a backdoor this time.

They certainly won't convince ME to vote for it! What I do with MY money is MY business, not "Big Brothers"!

Anybody for a black market burger?

I can just see it, sorry sir, you are retired, why would you need petrol? Or even a car? Your usefulness to society has ended, you are no longer productive, please drop dead at your earliest convenience! Next stop euthenasia! Hopefully I won't live long enough to see it introduced!

All this is starting to make a nuclear winter more appealing!

HOWEVER, I'm not sure they can actually DO it (how will politicians get their bribes paid?) and if they do, some bright spark will work out a way to defeat it, humans are endlessly clever about finding loopholes. Black markets have existed since before the days when taxation was called Danegeld and no govenment has ever been able to stamp it out. Some other untraceable currency will appear, before all the banknotes are cold in the incinerator IMO.

I sat at the bar watching the France v England match the other week; I noticed I was the only customer in a packed pub using cash!

No, this is the front door...the back door was to make cash 'dirty' during the so called pandemic and a whole generation who would otherwise have baulked at cashless/contactless payments were trained how to with the undercurrent of fear.

Another thing, everyone will have a bank account with the Bank of England direct, it says. Thus taking all personal banking out of the hands of the regular banks. Has anyone asked the "actual" banks what they think of the govt nationalising (the fancy word for what, if not done by govt, would be theft) their customers? And who seriously expects THEM to just drop their pants and bend over for this?

The worldwide banking industry has much more clout than any mere government or even a collection of governments ( I don't condone or approve of this, it's just true!)

Doubt it will happen, there are still several government depts. that will have only recently started accepting anything othet than cheque (remember them?) payments for certain things. The DVLA was one of them for replacement V5C's or when trying to get the reg no. back on a car that has "fallen off the system". The governments record on "tech" / "digital" anything is woeful so even if they wanted to do it, it would still never happen.

Don't forget you only have around 6 months left to get rid of your paper £20's and £50's or you will have to go to the bank to change them :)

Bitcoins and all the other digital clones and NFT's are just a load of smoke and mirrors and a massive con - I think of them as "the emperors new clothes" - Governments are only making speeches about them to make them selves look "cool".

Look at the other digitalisation policies they have backed down on........ switching off analogue radio and older 2g mobile phone networks are just 2 examples.

They have only just agreed to stop recording Parliamentary records on Vellum :)

+1
Mind you, I get paid in cash every week.
My employer only accepts cash

As an aside, the charges levied on retailers for accepting cards are just criminal.

I find the whole idea that using cards is safer for your health as just laughable

Look harder at the World Economic Forum and the insidious influence it has on both governments (into which it has installed its minions worldwide: Ardern, Trudeau, Andrews, Macron, Hancock...) and banks. Funded by the world's biggest corporations...

Also, if you use on line banking at all, have you not noticed they all offer to access your accounts with other lenders through the one 'App'...for your convenience, of course! The 'one world bank' is a definite aspiration...

I do use online banking but haven't noticed or been dunned about that. But then I don't have any accounts with other lenders, (maybe I should, to muddy the waters a little) which they presumably know, seeing as Big Brother is watching us. One more reason to use cash wherever possible.

I like cash and ran my business almost exclusively on cash before I retired. Not to intentionally obfuscate anything, simply because it was a near 20 mile round trip to my nearest branch to pay anything in. In 2019 they closed that branch and introduced facilities to pay in at the PO, which, perversely, made life easier. But too late for them as I retired in Jan of 2020.

I think the "one world bank" is probably an unspoken reality rather than an aspiration and their individual independence, merely an illusion they collude to create. They all work together seamlessly and you'd need a microscope and more hours than I care to devote (I should live so long) checking the small print, to find any significant difference between them. Only the names vary to protect the guilty!

Hi

Thats from GMB news "the channel was founded with £60 million in funding, the majority of which was provided by American television conglomerate Discovery, Inc., Dubai based investment firm Legatum,[2][3] and British investor Sir Paul Marsha" Don't believe everything you read on they internet, they are as much Mainstream media as the Daily hate mail and Sky news!

Although I don't disagree with the sentiment of the article, its always worth checking the peoples perspective behind it.

Regards

Barry
