Hi all. I don't know if anyone can answer this one for me?

My Dad has a BT email account. For sometime now, we have found that he is not receiving some emails and today he has identified that it is only emails sent from others with BT email accounts that he doesn't receive.
He has also identified that when he sends an email to another BT account, they don't receive it either?

All other emails are sent and received with no problem - just BT-BT that is the problem.

He has contacted BT helpline who will respond within so many days... I won't hold my breath!

Does anyone 'techy' have any idea on what this could be?

Kind Regards

Matt

A difficult one to diagnose. Is BT his ISP or just mail service provider? I'd say that it was a problem with the mail server, but you'd think that this would be all over the news?! Just a thought, in the settings in his email application, are the details for the email server correct? If the email app isn't able to connect to the email server then obviously mail can't be sent or received. Ah, forget that - you've already said that he can send or receive email to/from non-BT customers.... Get on the phone to BT and keep hammering them until they sort it out!

Thanks Andy. Yes, he is with BT as his ISP too.

He has logged this with them, so hopefully they will respond, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything obvious we could check. Very odd all round, but at least there is a common link with it being only BT emails being the issue.
