Then your neighbour also knows that a vette bougie alway's does spark in free air and not under load in the cylinder?

We tested the cords and found a weak spark there so things go wrong before the plugs.
Just finished cleaning the sparks (removed oil / grease = degreasing?) but that didn't improve...
I'm about to order some new parts for the distributor.

So here's the good news: she's running again!
And here's the intro: I ordered some new parts and fitted them today: new cap, condenser and contact breaker points.
And here's the reason why it didn't start: I would like to write down here what an amazing improvement those new parts were and that right after fitting the car woke up even before I touched the ignition key, but that would'nt be true. The actual reason isn't very flattering for my skills: I misplaced the plug leads... My brother came with the advice to check the position of the camshaft to determine which spark plug should fire next and so on. Finally the right order was found and she came to life! Next thing tomorrow: tuning the carburettors.
