Hi All,

I am Simon, the proud owner of an excellent chassis and three boxes of a late Sprint. I am located in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire and am always available for tools/assistance/tea & biccies for anyone nearby. I have posted on the restoration page too about whether to go for this rebuild or not but unfortunately my best mate has now dared me to do it - knowing that I have never shyed away from a dare!! - so i'm stuck with it. Is there a local(ish) meet that I can start attending and also is there anyone out there who could spend an hour or so offering advice, encouragement etc in exchange for alcoholic (or non) beverages???

Happy motoring everyone, be good to see some more classics on the roads this year!! :D

I'd be glad to offer advice. It'll probably be wrong though!

There are a couple of people in the Bristol area, Mad Mart is probably the guy to have a chat to if you want to know about putting sprints back together.

Thanks everyone for your kind replies. I will get some photos on the site very soon but the car is dark red and was stripped ready for a rebuild along with a donor car by a chap who had his own MOT station. His business partner ripped him off for all their money and did a runner to Spain leaving him to be evicted and a big pile of cars to sell. I bought a pile of spares for a 1300 flat plank that I bought to learn to weld on, but they were far too good for that so I found out where the chassis had gone and went to look at it in a local scrapyard. It was excellent, just as the previous owner had promised. I sold the 1300 and rescued the Sprint (MAC964V) and that's it really.

David G has been very patient and sold me an engine/gearbox/exhaust system combo and now it needs a couple of tiny patches, painting and then the scary bit. Should I leave the paint original or go for Mimosa/Orange??

Paint it what ever colour you like, its your car and no matter what you do to it there will always be a few who say its wrong, Don't worry about what others think unless she is really cute and single

Topaz Orange.. A genuine Triumph colour that was painted on Stags, and should of been painted on Dolomites! 8)

Mmm..Topaz Orange with Chestnut or Black interior. If I ever have another project, it will be in that colour combo.. :eyes4u:

Mmmmm Topaz sounds good. My interior is black so I reckon that sounds like a plan.
Will post some more photos soon. Anyone else got a topaz sprint so i can get an idea of what it'll look like?
