Is the clutch fitted to the 3 rail dolly 1850 box the same as a GT6

would be handy if it is friend has got a new one he said I could have :D

It is the same.

Please ensure you use the proper RHP brand release bearing.
Also check that the clutch cover bolts are the correct length for the new cover (compare the covers...).

Just been for a quick look at the gearbox and engine I bought saturday and I think the gearbox maybe a single rail one because the clutch plate attached has 23 splines on it I have counted.

am I correct, if that Is the case does that mean its a later gearbox

This is a three rail gearbox. The extension that connects the gear stick to the box body is a fat alloy housing.

Inside there are 3 parallel rails, the stick engages with one of the three as you move the stick left/right and pushes or pulls the selected rail as you pull or push the stick.

A later single rail box has one operating rod from the stick to the box, sometimes exposed like this and sometimes in a plastic tube.
