Hi Kev

Get yourself a carbalancer or a length of tubing to listen to the hiss when balancing the idle screws. The mixture should be right on the car but I know the carbs were out of balance, in part due to the forementioned inlet manifold gasket. I assume you've taken a look at that? Otherwise they will not balance or tune properly as there is too much air entering the system which weakens the mixture and makes it run too fast and lumpy.

If I were in the area i'd gladly pop by and help but it is a little too far for me. Failing that there may well be someone locally who might be able to assist. Twin carbs are not a huge problem and once they're set up SU's are pretty good and do tend to stay in tune.
