Well, in my opinion replacing 1850 points is not that bad a job. I'd rather do an 1850 than an MGB for instance.
Here is a note on the way to do it.
Remove the distributor cap.

Rotate the engine to get the rotor arm roughly North-east. Note the offset location holes for the rotor arm.

Remove the springs.
