The two main things that stand out are the vinyl roof and the unique alloy wheels on the Sprint. Also the standard exhaust on a Sprint has a twin tail pipe. Bear in mind that an 1850 could have had a vinyl roof fitted and Sprint wheels. Not sure if that helps much. I'm sure you will get lots of replies to this.

^^^ Mart pretty much has it covered really. Other than the Sprint has wider stick on coachlines than the 1850 (but these could of been replaced at some point) and the Sprint is supposed to be only available in the "Sports colours" but confusingly they also came in the same standard colours as 1850s and 1850s could be special ordered in the Sprint colours as well!!!

Doesn't the Sprint propshaft have a CV joint in the middle instead of a UJ?

Don't forget the extra 150cc, the extra 8 valves, the extra 27bhp, a different head, a duplex timing chain and SU HS6 carbs (I know you can't actaully see some of these things).

Std sprint in reasonable condition on a dyno is 105 at the wheels so about 120 for real.

Mart, you are correct (Haynes says 91 bhp for the early 1850. I wonder if the 'bergs make any difference). I knew the Sprint was 127 bhp. I don't know where I thought the 1850 was 100 bhp unless I was thinking of the TR7 engine. The Z16XE engine in my Astra makes about 99 bhp.

I think the TR7 was quoted at 104 bhp? But I may be wrong. Any guess as to what a fair example actually gives, on a crisp, cold foggy morning it may well give an extra 3-5% more.

Does the Sprint have 3 or 4 badges that say "Sprint"? :P (I know not big or clever!)
